Reliability and StabilityIf you are having issues because of the quality of your telephone line then the Broadcom chipset, in the TD8810, will definitely be an advantage. This is because Broadcom chipsets can tolerate higher signal variations than other ADSL chipsets and in most cases will maintain your ADSL connection more reliably and for longer.
Avoid Configuration IssuesIf you already have a good quality Router with QoS capabilities or if you are planning on buying a VoIP ATA with inbuilt Router then setting the Modem to bridge mode will avoid issues arising from Double-NAT and Port Forwarding configuration errors.
Bridge Mode (modem only)If you already own (or plan to purchase) an ATA with a builtin router or a QoS and/or Wireless Router and ...
Modem/Router ModeSetting up the initial PPPoE or PPPoA connection for your ISP is very easy. You can use either the Web interface and Quick Setup wizard or the supplied Setup Utility. When it comes to setting up Virtual Servers (Port Forwarding) and QoS you will need to use the Web interface and the Advanced WAN configuration options. Below are examples of typical uses when configured as a Modem and NAT Router combination.
